Jw's getting married BEFORE divorces are final?
by Tired of the Hypocrisy ina video was sent to me with some claims that struck me as very odd.
after over 40 years associated with the wbts i never heard that a couple could marry and consumate their marriage even while one of them was in the middle of a divorce that has not been finalized.
the claims are that they can marry with a "promise" to go and get the union ratified by civil authorities and that jehovah and jesus are ok with the fornication as long as they promised.

I wrote to the video's amker to ask him for some source material because if it can be documented that the society ok'd this it will show another bad thing about the group.
Has anyone ever heard of this being ok thru the wbts?
The video is in Spanish but it's here if you want to see it:

Bethelite reverence
by Waffles inhave any of you had the experience of a bethelite brother visiting your kh?.
here's how it always seemed to go in my experience:.
there is a general kh-wide excitement in the air that a real, live bethelite rockstar is at the hall; overheard are numerous convo's featuring words like "o, he's a bethelite".. visiting brother bethelite gives the closing prayer and is immediately mobbed by adoring fans.. all the single sisters are on high alert, you can smell the estrogen in the air.

Most of the Bethelites I remember were thought to be all that but over time it was revealed that of the 6 that I knew 4 were actually mental cases who secretly beat their wives or had a huge porn problem.

Family Members Going Back to the JW's- Terrible News.
by OnTheWayOut ini may have described the players in this story long ago, and changed the details to hide who i am.. i don't really worry about it anymore, and i don't want to look back over two years to see if i changed the details.
the following is true, and the sex and age and situation of each person is pretty accurate despite any details seeming different from before:.
my nephew is 14 years old, he's my wife's sister's boy.

All we can do is what we can do. You've planted seeds and will be around if they need you no matter what. Now let the wbts try to water and show itself to be what it is...a dry and desolate place. I hope it works out for the best.

Dom Deluise played off Dino so well. I loved him in Fatso, Cannonball Run, and History of the World. He'll be greatly missed.

Former Hardcore Elder Now In and Out of Psych Ward (long)
by neverendingjourney ini was informed recently that a former hardcore, dyed-in-the-wool elder (lets call him elder a) has been in and out of a mental ward recently.
it came as a surprise at first, but upon further reflection, it really isnt that surprising.
let me give you some background.. my childhood up through elementary school was played out in the 80s.

Basically he is saying that we are living in awesome days and that they celebrate the memorial because it is the only celebration the Bible records that Jesus commanded. He says that it is so important that they want all of their community to participate in the celebration and that besides Spanish and Castillian, they are reaching out to the other language groups in Chile. He goes on to explain the reason they celebrate it on Nisan 14 / Passover and that even though the memorial had been celebrated the previous Thursday, the remaining part of Holy week is important because it is important to reflect on Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection.
He goes on to explain how they read portions of the Bible each day of the week that correspond to what Jesus was doing on that particular day. The interviewer asked if they have anything special planned for Easter Sunday since it is the day of resurrection. He said not in a date but because of the fact that Jesus died and that Jehovah God resurrected Him to give all humanity a chance at life.
The interviewer asked about what makes the memorial different from other days, and he told him that it is also open to the public but they offer a special campaign to get people invited to the memorial. He then shared with him that last year more than 12 Million non jw's attended the memorial worldwide.
The inteviewer then asked about the mechanics of the celebration and he told him about the wine and unleavened bread and how the memorial is the jw principal celebration for the entire year because Jesus said that they should keep on remembering to do it, but that all year long they always have in mind that sacrifice that He made.
He then moved onto how they inculcate their values into their children's hearts so they may be protected from outside influences. That jw's have family ties and values and principles between the parents and the children as a high priority.
So the interviewer moved on and summarized saying that the Holy week is more a time of reflection for jw's than a time for action. The guy said that they do not do any sort of dramatic representation but instead reflect on the portions of the Bible that tell of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ in order to focus our minds on what the sacrifice accomplishes.
